How Breast Augmentations are Performed
Breast augmentation surgery typically takes about one to two hours and is commonly performed with general anesthesia. After the surgery, the patient’s breast size may be increased by one or more cup sizes, depending on the specific wishes of the patient. The goal with a breast implants will be to achieve the desired result with minimal scarring. The incisions are usually created in subtle places – around the areola of the breast (periareolar) or the crease on the underside of the breast (inframammary). Dr. Hsu will be meticulous in working to ensure you experience the least amount of scarring possible.
Saline or Silicone?
When you seek to undergo breast augmentation at Bellavita Center, you will be able to choose between saline and silicone implants. Saline implants consist of a silicone rubber shell that is inflated with sterile saline (a solution of salt and distilled water) to the desired size. Silicone implants are filled with a particular amount of silicone gel, which is a silicon-based compound. Saline and silicone implants have different specific benefits. Silicone implants may have a more natural feel, but saline implants are often able to be inserted with a smaller incision and therefore may result in less scarring.
